The Common Core and the Faculty of Education are co-hosting a workshop series for all Common Core Tutors to explore the application of Design Thinking and Improvisational Techniques to enhance the experience of teaching and learning. The workshop will consist of two hands-on practical sessions facilitated by Tanya Kempston (Senior Lecturer, Teacher Education and Learning Leadership at the Faculty of Education) and Jack Tsao (Associate Director at the Common Core), as follows:

Session 1-  Wednesday, 8 September 2021 (9:30 am – 12:30 pm)
Session 2- Wednesday, 29 September 2021 (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) *

Location:

Common Core Lounge (MB150), Main Building
(Free Morning Tea provided! Maybe pastries!)

* Since the two sessions are integrated, participants need to be available for both.

This linked workshop, suitable for both new or experienced Tutors, will cover:

• Engaging students at a deeper and more expansive level of inquiry
• Connecting across disciplinary domains of knowledge in teaching
• Adopting the mindset for experimenting and prototyping
• Improving shared control and collaboration in the classroom

Participants should be open to ‘play’ out of their comfort zone and just have fun.

Upon satisfactory completion of the brief reflective assessment, all participants will receive a certificate formally recognising their commitment to professional development.
